After completing a major body of work last year I intended to use some of 2018 as a year to explore a way of working that combines an experimental painted surface, my imagination, and ultimately inspiration drawn from the emotional memory of places that I know. Each painting began with the remains of the palette from the previous painting, an image emerges and a clear direction takes hold. These eleven works have come one from the other as they were worked and reworked together as a group.
